Dan Keen was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Fayette County. Dan and his family live in Round Top, Texas. Round Top has been the perfect place to build his training facility, Dan Keen Horsemanship, as it is located directly between Houston and Austin. Dan has been training horses all his life. As a child on the ranch, Dan was introduced to horsemanship at an early age. He soon realized the importance of the partnership of horse and rider. Dan has always had a gift at solving minor to advanced issues and was called upon many times during his prior profession as a farrier to assist clients. The apparent need and continuous results motivated Dan to pursue his talent even further.

Over the past several years, Dan has been referred to “The Foundation Guy, The Trainer’s Trainer” who uses a unique training method that he calls “Wenglish”. “Wenglish” originated from the knowledge Dan acquired from the experiences with his own Western horses and professionally with English horses over the years. He has taken the best from both worlds and uses it in his training techniques. The results have been successful for low level to Grand Prix horses.

With patience and softness, Dan builds a willingness and confidence by teaching the horse and then the owner how to build a foundation that ensures success in any discipline, at any level. Dan has the talent to go beyond the discipline to the core of the horse and establish this solid foundation.

Dan’s success can be seen in his own horses or with any horse in training at his facility. The leadership Dan establishes through kindness and mutual respect is apparent at home or on the road. Dan teaches that the only way to build the successful partnership between horse and rider is to establish the leader. Horses will then enjoy their job and want to excel and please. Dan not only teaches this to the horses but uses his amiable but challenging skills to teach the owners as well. Dan’s technique has fulfilled many owners and world champion trainer's desire to have a beneficial and successful relationship with their horse and/or client’s horses.
